MF Pottery
A personal, relatable brand for a PNW potter making her mark.
Owner Mijanou Fortney came to Design for the West with a clear request—she wanted a brand that fit her work. Like her functional stonework pottery, it needed to be relatable and recognizable. It also needed to be layered with meaning, with a respectful nod to the materials and inspiration provided by the natural world. With sun, water, mountains, and sky, as well as a bird, and a decidedly low-key MF monogram, we are happy to say: mission accomplished.

Minimal line work and a compact footprint allow for legible clay imprints at small sizes.

Natural textures and abstract landforms are a core component of MF Pottery’s visual approach, and the mark echoes this focus. It reads primarily as a bird, but is simultaneously mountains, water, and sky, and a stealthy MF monogram.
